East Coast Paws was formed by three very passionate volunteer Transport Coordinators. Mary Ellen House, Mary Newman (former) and Jessica Dulin who were previous transport coordinators with Paws to the Rescue. During our time with Paws to the Rescue, we would transport dogs and cats from South Carolina to various rescues between Virginia and Maine. There would frequently be branch legs it various neighboring states. We would also have the occasional passenger that needed to go to Canada.
The transports we coordinated would often have anywhere from 10 passengers to 52 at the largest. The passengers would have various “attitudes” and requirements the drivers would need to handle the passengers by. The passengers ranged from Moms & pups, pregnant females, dog selective and “flight risks”.
East Coast Paws Transport (ECPT) is a registered 501c3 nonprofit public charity. We are a leg to leg volunteer transport group. We focus on supporting rural kill shelters by providing their dogs and cats a way to safety and freedom. We transport in the following states:
- South Carolina
- North Carolina
- New Jersey
- Pennsylvania (with specific requirements)
- New York
- Connecticut (with specific requirements)
- Massachusetts (with specific requirements)
- New Hampshire (with specific requirements)
East Coast Paws Transport has a combined 15 years of transport/ rescue knowledge and commitment behind it. We also see that transporting is only a band-aid for the overpopulation problem. Seeing this is driving us to focus on a low cost spay and neuter program(s) in key states. We are focusing on rural areas in GA, SC, NC and KY.
